Atmospheric Ball Dropper (ABD)
Lack of automation to remove personnel from harm’s way and traceability when deploying frac balls is not crux on land, but it has the ability to be made safer and more efficient; and that saves time and money.
The Spoked ABD is remotely operated device to drop frac balls into the wellhead of oil and gas wells. The ABD may be positioned above the wellhead or connected to alternative means allowing the position of the ABD to be positioned out of the way of other equipment remotely when it is not in operation.
The spring-loaded magazine is capable of holding a range of differing diameter frac balls simultaneously. The ABD head contains a remotely controlled actuator allowing the balls to move from the magazine to the outlet chute and deployment into the wellhead while blocking additional ball from entering the outlet chute. Both a visual signal at the ABD head and a remote signal at the control panel is given when a ball has been deployed.
The ABD fiber optic features tracks the diameter and count of the balls deployed.
BENEFITS
Mechanism allows for only one ball to drop at a time.
Quick magazine swap out for easy reloading.
Remotely operated so field personnel do not have to go near high-pressure wells to drop a ball.
Moves below top of well head when not in use.
Can be mounted to any RigLock wellhead.
Can be custom retrofitted to fit any open top wellhead system.
Built to the highest quality and standards.
Pneumatic or hydraulic controlled.
Features
Frac ball diameter range (2.125” to 3”). Additional sizes upon request.
Holds up to 10 balls.
Highly visible flags for easy ball drop indication and dispenser location.
Fiber-optic sensor with control panel.
Sensor gives local positive indication of ball drop.
Sensor counts number and size of balls dispersed and displays on LCD touchscreen.
Can easily be connected to any hydraulic power source.
Three and four ball drop unit control panels available for rig up/rig down elimination on multi-well pads.
